Refillable Water Bottles Recommendation:

Over the last few years, refillable water bottles have become extremely popular. Drinking water throughout the day is healthy and it is certainly encouraged at ARIS. We have noted, however, that many of the containers that students are using are very large… too large in most cases. It is recommended (not required) that students limit the size of their refillable water bottles to 16 oz. or 18 oz.

DRAWSTRING BAGS

Although students are encouraged to have a backpack to help transport school materials (including their chromebook) to and from school, ARIS follows a “no backpack” rule (which also includes “mini” backpacks) during the school day. Students are allowed to use a drawstring bag (cinch sack) to secure small items that otherwise may be difficult to maintain throughout the day (i.e. water bottle, pencil case, earbuds, snack, choice reading book, eyeglasses.) A drawstring bag is defined as a flexible container with a single opening and a tie consisting of a cord that goes through a seam around an opening. Drawstring bags should not be larger than the standard 14” x 18” (width and height). An acceptable drawstring bag for our school fits the following three criteria: (1) it is much smaller than a regular backpack, (2) has strings (not straps), and (3) lays completely flat when it is empty. Below is an example of what a drawstring bag should look like (size and design), as well as examples of what is not allowed at ARIS.
