Hello Hillsborough families,

 

The Chromebook Distribution Registration System is now open for all families in grades PreK-12!

Please note:

  • You will be required to log in to the registration system using the student’s district email and password. If you don’t know the student’s email address, you can find that in the Genesis Parent Portal on the student summary page.  If you do not have or know the student’s password, you will be able to login with their birth date. Simply click “Forgot Password” and you will be prompted for the student’s birth date. Once logged in, you will be able to select a date and time that is convenient for you.
     
  • Please note that all appointments will be held at Hillsborough High School.  Directions on where to go will be sent out prior to your registered appointment.
     
  • In ensuring social distancing and adhering to safety measures, we ask that only 1 family member come to the scheduled appointment to pick up the student’s assigned Chromebook(s).  The parent/guardian must bring a photo ID and be listed in the Genesis Parent Portal as a contact for the student in order to retrieve the device.  If you need to add or change your student’s contacts, directions can be found in the Genesis section on our website here.
     
  • To ensure an efficient pickup, please print the attached template and have all information for your student(s) filled out prior to your arrival.   The student does NOT need to be present, but the person picking up any technology equipment needs to be listed in the Genesis portal as a contact and must have the student’s ID number available (which can be found in Genesis).

Protection Plan

All students and parents have the option to purchase a Protection Plan for the Chromebook to help cover costs if the device is accidentally broken or damaged. The cost of the Protection Plan is $45 per student device and is nonrefundable.  While there is no cost for the use of the Chromebook, it is imperative that the Chromebook the student is issued be maintained and handled in a responsible way. The Protection Plan covers TWO separate incidents per school year and it covers the Chromebook, the power adapter and any loaner devices that are issued to the student in the event that their Chromebook needs to be repaired.   

 

If you do NOT purchase the Protection Plan, you are responsible to pay for the cost of any repair(s) for physical damage to the student’s device, any loaner devices issued to the student, and the power adapter.  If the device is unable to be repaired, this may also include the full replacement cost of the device.
