Why did you become a teacher?

“I have wanted to be a teacher for as long as I can remember. I used to teach my class of imaginary students about anything from addition to how to research their favorite animals. I always had a love of learning and I always knew I wanted to do something with my life that involved helping others.”

Why did you become an educator?

I originally started as an accounting major, but as I continued studying in that field, I realized that I enjoy working with people more than with numbers. And what better people to work with than children, who are full of fun and potential? The need to feel helpful and make a difference is also important to me, and I find that fulfillment every day in my career.

Favorite Educational Quote:

“Every child in your class is someone's whole world.”

Advice for new educators:

When I plan a lesson, I ask myself, “Would I enjoy this lesson if I were a student in my class? Will the students learn and have fun?” Not every lesson needs to be fun, but having those enjoyable moments has helped me build relationships with my students and has made the class one they look forward to attending.
